Über den Autor Baltasar Gracian

Baltasar Gracián y Morales, 1601 in Belmonte bei Calatayud geboren, war Jesuit, Philosoph und Theologe. Wegen der aufklärerischer Tendenzen in seinem umfangreichen Werk, zu dem u. a. das Handorakel und Kunst der Weltklugheit zählt, verlor er sein Amt als Prediger und Professor und erhielt Publikationsverbot. Gracián starb 1658 in Tarazona, Aragonien.
