Timothy Zahn wurde 1951 in Chicago geboren, lebt in Oregon und ist heute einer der beliebtesten Science-Fiction-Autoren der USA. Sein bekanntestes Werk ist die »Thrawn«-Trilogie (Legenden), die mehrere Jahre nach dem Ende von »Die Rückkehr der Jedi-Ritter« spielt und die Geschichte des »Star Wars«-Universums in eine neue Zeit vorantreibt (»Expanded Universe«). Diesen Büchern folgte eine Reihe weiterer »Star Wars«-Romane. Für seine Novelle »Cascade Point« wurde Zahn mit dem renommierten Hugo Award ausgezeichnet.
