JOHN RIDLEY ist ein erfolgreicher Autor von Filmen, Fernsehserien, Romanen und Comics. In den 1990ern verfasste er Drehbücher zu TV-Serien wie Martin und Der Prinz von Bel-Air. Sein Romandebüt Stray Dogs wurde von Regisseur Oliver Stone 1997 als U-Turn - Kein Weg zurück verfilmt. Selbst schuf und lenkte der 1965 geborene Ridley die TV-Serien American Crime und Guerilla. Anfang der 2000er schrieb er sogar Episoden zu den auf DC-Comics basierenden Animationsserien über Static Shock und die Justice League. Des Weiteren arbeitete Ridley an Dreh-büchern zu Filmen wie Three Kings, The Hunt, Red Tails, Undercover Brother und Ben Hur mit - und für 12 Years a Slave erhielt er 2014 einen Oscar. Während des Comic-Events Future State über eine dystopische Zukunft des DC-Universums startete er die Legende von Jace Fox als nächstem Batman, die er in BATMAN: SECOND SON und ICH BIN BATMAN fortsetzte. Daneben schrieb er die Comic-Serien THE AMERICAN WAY und Black Panther sowie Storys mit der Authority, Superman und Wolverine.
